A Conversation with Yuegang Zhang
نویسنده
چکیده
Y uegang Zhang is determined to make a better battery. The physicist and materials scientist started his career developing new ways to manufacture and use carbon nanotubes. In 2008, while at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, he found himself drawn to perfecting a promisingbut challengingbattery technology based on lithium–sulfur chemistry. He tested a variety of carbon nanomaterials to make a sulfur cathode that could pair with a lithium metal anode. In 2012, driven by the desire to commercialize lithium–sulfur batteries for drones and electric vehicles, Zhang returned to his home country of China to start a company.

متن کاملThe chair conformation of C-methylcalix[4]resorcinarene in a novel, stepped, supramolecular framework
The previously unobserved chair conformation of C-methylcalix[4]resorcinarene has been found in three different supramolecular solids, prepared by hydrothermal synthesis. The existence of the chair, crown and flattened cone conformations of C-methylcalix[4]resorcinarene demonstrates the dependence of the molecular conformation upon the templating molecules, and upon the specifics of the crystal...

We develop supercapacitor SC devices with large per-area capacitances by utilizing three-dimensional 3D porous substrates. Carbon nanofibers CNFs functioning as active SC electrodes are grown on 3D nickel foam. The 3D porous substrates facilitate a mass loading of active electrodes and per-area capacitance as large as 60 mg /cm2 and 1.2 F /cm2, respectively. We optimize SC performance by develo...
